What if I don’t have an email address?

Access to a credit report on RealSerious.com must be authenticated using an email address. You can usually get local internet access at a public library and set up a free email account with a provider such as AOL.com, Yahoo.com or GMail.com. If not, the landlord/agent can only order an eviction record or criminal record using your name and date of birth.


Why does my landlord/agent need my credit report?

Before approving an application for tenancy, it is a common practice for a landlord/agent to review a tenant's credit report and criminal record to determine if there is a financial or safety risk.


Will I be charged?

No. RealSerious.com does not charge tenants for responding to screening requests. The landlord/agent pays for all reports. A landlord/agent may sometimes collect an application fee to cover their time and screening costs.


What will my landlord/agent see?

Your landlord/agent will be able to see your payment history, credit score and public record information. We do not disclose personally identifiable information such as your SSN or account numbers.


Will my credit score be affected?

No. That's one of the best features about RealSerious.com. Since you will be authorizing and initiating the release of your own data, it's considered a "soft inquiry," which does not lower your credit score.


Why do I need to answer identity questions?

Each tenant is asked to verify his or her identity to ensure the process is secure. This helps prevent fraudulent access to consumer data.


What if I am unable to pass the identity verification?

If you have difficulty with the identity verification process, we suggest obtaining a copy of your credit report to review all of the information before attempting any further authentication. Obtain your free copy once a year at www.annualcreditreport.com. Contact customer service if you need assistance.


How do I know RealSerious.com is secure?
